In a few weeks I’ll travel to Vienna with my fiancée to attend the European winebloggers conference 2010, I also have a wine blog – Aqua Vitae – that is written in Swedish. Before the conference we have a few days of enjoying the sites. This is my first visit to Vienna so there’s much that I want to see. Among other things I’m going to visit a few museums such as the Wien Museum (Stadtarchäologie Wien), Museum für Völkerkunde and the Vienna Natural History Museum which display Venus of Willendorf.
I’ve just begun reading up on Austria and Vienna so if you have any tips for me of other museums or other things with archaeological/prehistoric profile that should not be missed, please tell me with a comment.

I am SO blogging about the wrong thing!
Good luck and have a great time, you deserve it – both of you.

Well I’m noting but a wino… and an archaeoholic… sorry archeologist. Austria will be great and then it’s home to Stockholm and ehhh… unemployment (at least for a while), not that great – though it is at least in Stockholm.

Visit Wino in Poysdorf north of Vienna (http://www.wino.at), you won’t regret it.

I don’t know if you have the time or mobility, but if so resreve a day for the museum/open air museum in Aspern/Zaya (http://www.urgeschichte.at/content-en/the-museum/prehistoric-adventure). It is well worth a visit. I hope you will enjoy Vienna as much as I did (while studying I was digging at Stillfried, famous for the urnfield culture multiple burial there (you will have a chance to see it at the museum in Vienna).

Hi Torwen!
Thanks for tips, I’m not sure how mobile I’ll be – it’s possible that I’ll rent a car for a day or so though I belive that I’ll be mostly in Vienna – I will visit the the museum Vienna though so I’ll keep a look out for the finds from the urnfield culture.
